HACKML Competition rules

  • Teams are to be of 3-4 participants.
  • No individual who is an organizer, volunteer, or sponsor of HACKML is eligible for prizes. Any teams that includes such individuals will be ineligible for prizes and judging.
  • Ideas from outside HACKML may be used during the event.
  • Teams may NOT use any projects that they developed before the event. All submissions must be of work completed at during the event's duration.
  • Using libraries or open source libraries is allowed. Students are not allowed to use their own open source libraries developed before the event. 
  • Once the submission deadline ends, no more significant changes to the submission are allowed. Small changes to ensure functionality are allowed. Changes to a project that exceed 2 lines risk a teams eligibility for winning.   
  • Plagiarism of any kind is unacceptable and participants that are found to be plagiarizing will be immediately ejected from the competition and barred from participation in all future competitions. 
  • Teams that violate these rules may be disqualified at any time by the HACKML organizers.

HACKML 2022 Participants represent ASU and are held to high expectations. 

  • HACKML participants are expected to act in accordance with the rules listed in Arizona State Universities code of conduct. The ASU code of conduct can be found here.
  • Participants are expected to treat peers and staff with respect, and there will be no tolerance for aggressive or harmful dialogues. 
  • Participants found to be damaging or tampering with ASU classrooms will be ejected from the event immediately and reported to the university authorities.
  • Failure to abide by these rules or ignoring rules outlined by staff is grounds for disqualification.
